The Japandi Home

Amstenrade

For a family home that was fairly industrially decorated in a black and white theme, Chapters was approached by the owners to add more tranquility and warmth to their home. All elements within the home had been separate choices, which created no coherence within the interior and lacked the warm feeling of 'home'. The kitchen and the large sofa were the only two elements that the owners wanted to keep in the new design.

Blending the fluid, contemporary elements of Scandinavian design with the refined, functional beauty of Japanese aesthetics.

We have chosen 'Japandi' style as the theme for this house; Japandi combines the flowing, modern lines of Scandinavian design with the sleek, functional elegance of Japanese aesthetics. Minimalist but welcoming, with extensive use of neutral tones, textures, organic shapes and natural materials.

This spacious house has a particularly large living room. We designed custom cabinets for the living room that provide more intimacy within this space. We brought the organic shapes into the space using wallpaper in a flowing structure, oval-shaped lighting and a large rug that fills the space with warmth and cosiness.

The Japandi theme has been extended to the kitchen, which is connected to the living room, by creating a seating area in the kitchen with an oval-shaped table, neutral dining room chairs and large hanging lamp that fully embraces the chosen Japandi style.

Let’s talk about your project. Contact Chapters to discuss the possibilities for your space.
