The Bay Window Home

Spaubeek

For a fun, young family, we designed the interior of the ground floor of their home. With many pillars, low windowsills and an unfunctional entrance space, we created a concept to redesign the layout of the ground floor, accentuating the features that served no purpose.

The design strategy involves enhancing the unique architectural features.

The base of the theme is kept very neutral and light, in which the fun shapes of the house are enhanced with extra attention brought to their features. Added splashes of ochre to the colour scheme complement the lifestyle of this young, bright family.

We used rich, textured fabrics to dress the pillars and the entrance space, making it the eyecatcher in the room. A custom-made bench was placed on the same level as the different windowsills, to create a bay window seating area, as well as a gallery to expose their family heirlooms and other knickknacks – embracing the different heights on which the windows in the house are placed. Chapters has skillfully crafted a design that combines practicality with a sense of playfulness, creating an inviting and personalised environment for the family to enjoy and make lasting memories.
