Hotel Walram

Valkenburg

Hotel Walram is housed in a community of historical buildings, which together create the magic of this magnificent hotel. 114 guest rooms are housed behind the characteristic, marl stone façade. The hotel rests on the ruins of the old city walls of Valkenburg. The main entrance of the hotel is set in an original 18th century farmhouse, and the building first got listed as a hotel in 1896.

In 2020, the city of Valkenburg – including the hotel – flooded completely. Chapters renovated, redecorated, and rebranded Hotel Walram, honoring the original floorwork that survived the flood.

Each room is unique and embraces the quirks & history of the old buildings.

Over the years, the hotel interior was adjusted to the fashions of the time. After the melancholy feeling of the flood that the third-generation owners of the hotel were left with, we chose to restore the old-world charm of the hotel and bring back the gilded age of Hotel Walram – to honor the hotel’s history.

Inspired by old photos of the hotel, the new interior represents the classic character of Hotel Walram in shades of green. Leaving nothing but the floorwork in its original state, we designed and guided the full renovation of the hotel. From the lobby to the breakfast area – every element of the interior of Hotel Walram is custom-made in a fitting theme for the grandeur of this hotel. The true eyecatcher is the bespoke oval bar with the integrated reception desk, dressed in two different types of natural stone. In the concept of Hotel Walram, we have preserved the history of the hotel and turned it into a modern-day fairytale.
